Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) – The automobile in which Jesse Harmon was a passenger when she was killed Saturday was touring “well in excess” of the posted pace restrict times just before the crash, in accordance to Sulphur law enforcement.

Big Jason Gully, with the Sulphur Law enforcement Department, stated the 2021 Volkswagen Jetta, in which Harmon was a front seat passenger, was touring east on Cypress Road just after 2 p.m. when a westbound 2011 Toyota Camry attempted to change south onto Kent Avenue.

“The Volkswagen scraped the entrance driver corner of the Camry, causing it to reduce command and strike a utility pole,“ Gully explained. “Further investigation disclosed proof that the Volkswagen was travelling very well in excessive of the posted 40 miles for every hour velocity restrict on Cypress Street just seconds right before the crash occurred.”

Harmon was pronounced dead at the scene, Gully reported. The driver of the Jetta suffered reasonable accidents and was transported to a clinic. The backseat passenger sustained minor accidents. None of the vehicle’s occupants were carrying seatbelts, he claimed.

Gully reported impairment is not suspected, though normal toxicology samples ended up taken from every single driver.

No citations have been issued at this time, Gully mentioned.

The investigation is ongoing. Officer AJ Powell is the guide investigator.
